Research Proposal 2018 :

Introduction:

This research proposal will explore in depth the Design and Craft Council Of Ireland , Covering application process, the benefits if any, from obtaining a Bursary. As well as looking at why there are no bursaries allocated to Traditional Crafts in General, The Craft Council of Ireland  is situated in Castle yard, Kilkenny alongside the national Craft gallery, with another office on Dundalk street, carlingford, Co, Louth.

The Design and Craft Council of Ireland or (DCCoI)(1971) Started as a non-profit voluntary organisation and was  Development several years after (KDW) Kilkenny Design Workshop (1965), The First Ever state funded Organisation Supporting The arts. The (KDW) had a significant impact on the art/craft industry and definitely has shaped today's craft and design skills and processes. (Shaw-Smith. p,12)

 Conclusion:

From my research I have found the Design and Craft Council of Ireland to be a brilliant asset to all makers, From an abundance of financial funding to advertisement, They strive to preserve an excellent standard of work throughout Ireland and beyond, Giving makers of all disciplines wonderful opportunities, opening up doors for them to enable their work to flourish.

Unfortunately makers may not see any benefits as soon as they may wish to, keeping in mind the interviews that took place at Gifted where Chloe Dowd's stated that she is yet to see any permanent changes regarding interest and sales of her work. However winning bursaries has enabled Chloe free rain over her making processes, experimenting with more expensive materials is something she previously couldn't do due to financial restraints.
