Special Educational needs Placement:
I completed my SEN school Placement in Stewarts Care – Mill Lane Centre. Located in Palmerstown, Dublin 20. As this facility is close to my home I have always known about it, however had no idea of the brilliant work they achieve here until I began this two week experience.

The staff work very closely with all service users to identify their wishes as well as goals they feel would help them to integrate into society. Many of them have had their dreams come true with the help of the team here at Stewarts.
Theme:
Blast-off into the future!
Aim: To create and preserve a 3 year time capsule, tied to and filled with art from the Mill Lane Campus.
Learning Outcomes:

1) Utilize line shape and pattern to create original designs for rocket ships.
2) Co-operate as a class to create a giant work together in the “exquisite corpse” style
3) Translate line drawings into 3 dimensional clay plaques.
4) Discuss what the future might look like and what we think is important to preserve or draw attention to.

Reflection:

Before commencing this placement I was quite nervous and didn't really know what to expect, However I was blown away by this facility and it's service users. This has definitely been a wonderful experience and one i will never forget.
