First week of placement: CBA 2:

Today was my first day back teaching since September, I was happy to be back. The lesson did go as planned, however some students wore quite hard to actually get on track and do the work. They just seem like they are not bothered, especially at the beginning of projects when doing brainstorms/mind maps . You constantly have to go around and pull information/work out of them. Two boys who sit together obviously are not paying attention as they didn't even know what we were doing, So I will have to pay more attention to these two lads. Also as their is a new bring your device to school policy and due to the change towards remote/digital learning I had decided to bring the students outside to take photographs/ gather found objects as this directly links to our theme of landscapes, However one students decided to take his phone out when he was not supposed to and was just sitting there on it. I asked him to put the phone away and he did without any hassle, until a few seconds later it looked to me like he had his phone under the desk, however this caused him to get snappy and rude(Cursed) telling me that he didn't have his phone out and was just messing at the desk. I told him not to be rude etc. and then apologized to him a few minutes later (one to one) as I honestly believed him.



 

Before I had left in September myself and the host had decided to do a cardboard construction UOL As she had wanted the students to explore a few processes that they could use for their final 3d pieces. Unfortunately today when i had come back they wore in the middle of working on their CBA's: Primary/Secondary source drawings. Today as far as i know is the last day for this and then the students will be going on to their artist link. So now I am not doing my intended UOL : card construction, we will go on to this at a later date, so basically today I was assisting the host, and helping/ answering students' questions as much as possible.

I also reminded them of the different drawing styles that we had done for the soap carving UOL

in September. (Contour/Wire/shapes etc.). However I am very happy to have the opportunity to actually teach a third year group and get that much needed experience of the CBA.
